Pokerstars Sunday Million
The PokerStars Sunday Million is the largest and most prestigious online poker tournament out there with a total prize pool of $1.5 million. Drawing thousands of poker players from around the world, the tournament runs every Sunday at 16.30 ET and offers a prize of at least $150,000 cash to the overall winner.
The Sunday Million tournament was launched a few years ago and has grown rapidly both in terms of popularity and prize money since its birth. No other poker site in the world can match Pokerstars in terms of the prize money they're giving away and when you consider the number of free qualifiers that run daily, it's a no brainer. This is a tournament that you simply have to get involved in.
Sunday Million Qualifier Bonus
We aim to ensure that we deliver the best possible value to our readers and so with that in mind we're proud to announce that all new players signing up to Pokerstars for the first time will receive a $600 qualifier bonus when they enter the Pokerstars Marketing code PSA1027during the registration process.
The bonus takes the form of a 100% match offer (spread over your first three deposits) and is added to your bankroll as soon as you make a deposit of at least $50. This $50 can then be used to pay for your entry into one of the many Sunday Million Qualifiers or to build up your number of FPP's to allow you to enter a qualifier for free.
Sunday Million Qualifiers
There are a huge number of daily qualifier games which allow players to get involved in the Sunday Million for a fraction of the normal cost. Qualifiers are split into two categories:
- FPP (Frequent Player Points) Qualifiers don't cost the player a buy-in fee. Instead, players enter the qualifier by spending their FPP points. The minimum buy-in level is set at 400 FPP's and awards one ticket to the Sunday Million.
- Those players who don't have enough FPP's (or aren't willing to spend them), can buy into a qualifier for as little as $1 or as much as $107.50+$2.15. The number of seats given away as prizes depends on both the size of the buy-in fee and the number of players participating.
Sunday Million Buy-In fee
For those wishing to guarantee themselves a seat in the Sunday Million, the buy-in fee is set at $200 + $15 for the three weeks of every month and $500 + $30 for the fourth Sunday. Prices increase further to $1,000 + $50 on the last Sunday in each quarter of the year.
Despite the changing buy-in levels, the guaranteed prize fund remains at $1,500,000. That's not to say though that the overall amount of cash on offer may surpass that amount - after all with an average of over 6,000 players getting involved every week, there have been plenty of occasions over the last twelve months when the prize money on offer has grown substantially.
Sunday Million Prize Structure
If you're fortunate enough to get through the bubble in the Sunday Million, you can be pretty sure that you'll receive a nice payout. While the exact amount of your win will depend on how many players entered that week, it's safe to say that the prize fund is split between the top 15% of the field.
As a rough estimate though, the overall winner usually receives somewhere between $150,000 and $225,000.
It's also interesting to note that the Pokerstars software now allows Chop Deals as long as $30,000 is left for the overall winner.
