Opening an account with Moneybookers:
Setting up an account with Moneybookers couldn't be easier. There is absolutely no cost involved in opening an account and new users can start processing transactions within a few hours of registering their details.
To set up an account with Moneybookers, you will need to visit www.moneybookers.com. You will be asked for your email address, a secure password and your country of residence. You will also need to state whether you plan on using your Moneybookers account for business or personal reasons. As a poker player, we recommend you chose the 'personal' option.
Once these details have been submitted, Moneybookers will verify the email address you have given them by sending you a message which will contain a special link. New members will have 24 hours to confirm that they are the owner of the email address by clicking on this link.
once this link has been clicked, you will then be able to access your new Moneybookers account. You will be required to submit some additional personal information such as your name, address and preferred method of contact.
Before you can add funds to your new account, one final stage of verification is required. Moneybookers will send a letter to the postal address you have provided them. This letter will contain a special code which you will need to insert into your Moneybookers profile. With this final security check complete, you will instantly be able to fund your bankroll at your chosen poker room.
Using Moneybookers with online poker rooms:
Topping up your bankroll with Moneybookers is easy, as long as your signed up with a poker room that accepts Moneybookers as a payment method (see the list above if you're unsure). To deposit money, simply visit the "Cashier" section of the poker site and look for the deposit option.
In most cases, you'll then need to select Moneybookers as your preferred deposit method at which point you'll be asked for your Moneybookers username. Once the poker site in question has this information, you'll be able to select the amount that you wish to deposit with the poker site and in most cases the funds will appear in your account instantly.
It's worth pointing out that you should make sure that you have the necessary funds in your Moneybookers account before trying to make a deposit with a poker site. Some poker rooms will still accept your payment even if your Moneybookers account is full, but we'd suggest that the amount you're looking to deposit should be freely available in your Moneybookers account, if only to allow you to keep a track of your bankroll.
Withdrawing funds to a Moneybookers account is nice and easy too. When you're ready to cash out, you will need to go back to the "Cashier" section of the website and select the "Withdraw" option. You will normally be presented with a number of different payment options. Simply select Moneybookers, type in how much cash you're looking to withdraw and press the "Submit" button.
Once this cash out request has been received, the majority of poker rooms will ship funds to your Moneybookers account within two to three days. After this time, the money will be freely available to you in your Moneybookers account at which point you can chose whether to forward it on to other people or withdraw it directly to your bank account.
Moneybookers charges:
As mentioned above, there are no charges involved in setting up a Moneybookers account. Instead a small charge is added to each transaction. Currently this charge stands at 1% of the value of the transaction up to a maximum of 50 euros. This charge is always paid by the person or company sending the money and is among the lowest charges currently available on the internet.
