Things just seem to be going from bad to worse for those sites that were affected by the Department of Justice on Black Friday.
Pokerstars and Full Tilt have both seen their doors shut to US players and a significant drop to the number of active players on their network.
Bradley Franzen has become the first of the men arrested on what has now become known as Black Friday to enter his plea.
Franzen was one of 11 men to be indicted following a joint operation between the Department of Justice and the FBI in which four of the world’s largest poker rooms were shut down.
Shortly after Pokerstars released an official press statement regarding the seizure of their primary domain, Full Tilt poker has done the same.
However, while the statement from Pokerstars attempted to be fairly bright and breezy, the Full Tilt press release is much more formal and comes from the site owner Raymond Bitar – one of the men who has been indicted this weekend.
In what has arguably been the biggest crackdown on internet poker since the UIGEA bill was passed, the US Federal Government appears to have seized the domains belonging to the world’s largest poker rooms.
Anyone visiting Pokerstars, Full Tilt, UB.com or Absolute Poker is now greeted with a simple HTML page which contains the official seals of both the Justice Department and the FBI.
Party Poker are holding a “Card Rush” event throughout April where they’ll be giving away prize cards to 1.8m players.
The event started on 1st April and is scheduled to continue until 30th April or until the 1.8m cards are given out, so if you don’t currently have an account with Party Poker, we’d suggesting registering your details now.
Talk about peaks and troughs!
Just when it looked like Cake Poker finally had something to cheer about after announcing a “Strategic Partnership” with PokerListings.com, they’ve been dealt another blow with the news that the small UK Poker Room, Gutshot poker will be leaving the network and setting up home with iPoker.
